Lecture 10: Digital Print

The focus of this week's session was to learn how to prepare images and files for printing. This digital session demonstrated the process to follow whenever we intend to print something using the New Adelphi’s Printing Room. For me this was a much needed refresher as I did attend this same lecture last year but I have yet to put any of these skills into practice. Whilst I have utilised some of the set up techniques in InDesign I haven’t been up to the Printing Room but I’m sure this will change before the end of the year. The printers in the Printing Room are of a higher standard than the ones I’m used to in New Adelphi. I think it will definitely benefit my work to use them for my Final Major Project. It also gives me the opportunity to print on a larger scale which I believe could be quite interesting.

It came as a huge surprise to learn that you actually have to attend an Induction Class before you’re allowed to use the printing room. Leaving me curious to see it for myself, but not clueless thanks to the PDFs - accompanying this pre-recorded lecture - possessing insights into the printing studio and the printers. Another point to remember is that after the induction in order to use the Printing Room you actually have to book in through the university.
