Lecture 5: Nikki Meredith Talk

Today Nikki Meredith, a Wardrobe Supervisor with The Royal Exchange came to speak to us about her experience working in Theatre. I found it really interesting to hear about how in theatre the set and costume designers work more intrinsically on a Theatre Production.

Although this is something I had learnt previously through discussions with Amanda Stoodley, I still found the idea intriguing, that I could branch out as a designer and explore other areas within theatre design given that the designers all work together and there's a lot more crossover. Providing set designers like Stoodley with the opportunity to contribute to costume designs and vise versa with Meredith. As opposed to working in TV and Film where set and costume are entirely different departments. Even though I’m currently leaning more towards working on Film, I wouldn’t be opposed to exploring Theatre and believe it would be beneficial to my future to research more into the work done behind the scenes in a theatre.
